Does this mean you drank alcohol as a minor?

What does that have to do with me never using illegal substances?  ??? ???

Even if I drank alcohol as a minor, it still would not be considered an illegal substance.

My statement has zero to do with never using an illegal substance.

Probably nothing. I'm frankly rather surprised you're taking this so seriously. It's just an idle forum discussion, IMO.  :)

I drank a heckuva lot before I was 21.

But then the drinking age was 18.

I was working back today and went lighter. Really focused on the squeeze at the top, lowering it with extreme control, then lifting the weight in a slower motions. Definitely felt the difference. I mean, I always used good form, but not to this extreme end.

Maybe its all useless. Who knows. But, lets be honest, lifting weights can get boring, so even if its only acting as a placebo, it's something different.   :) :)

It makes sense if you interpret this as focusing on making a maximum muscle contraction, which would result in recruiting more muscle fibers, hence better development/strength etc.

The whole thing about this being effective at sub-maximal % also makes sense.  If you are using sub-maximal weight then there is "room" to increase the intensity of the contraction above what is already being used to lift the sub-maximal weight.

However, when you are working at near maximal load you are already probably recruiting the max muscle fibers so further recruitment cannot happen.  You are already there.

Arnold said "visualize your biceps as mountains".  That interpretation is probably nonsense for getting a better peak on your biceps which is dependent on your muscle attachment.

Back in the day, I was able to get served when I was fifteen. Never needed fake ID. -Drink of choice was Vodka on the rocks or neat when kept in the freezer.

Want to get a  major quad burn? Try the Octane LateralX Elliptical. I used this machine today for cardio and it's a killer. Try the variable (wide to narrow) squat position for a total quad workout.  https://www.octanefitness.com/commercial/products/lateral-ellipticals/lx8000/

I'm not sure what people mean by "Mind-Muscle Connection", but I have a small anecdote. I'd like to know if any of you have experienced this.

Some years ago I was on a bus, thinking about doing legs on the afternoon. In my mind, I was laying out my routine, exercise by exercise, set by set. Without even noticing, I was so inmersed on my thoughts that I was even thinking about how my muscles would feel while doing leg presses. Then all of a sudden I feel the same rush you get while you're lifting weights. It was amazing, without moving a single muscle, I had the same endorphin rush you start to get after 20 min of doing weights.

It's only happened to me once.

I think it’s legit. Only down side is it’s difficult or impossible with heavy weight. Need to use lighter weights.

There are many substances that are legal for particular people to own or use, but illegal when in possession of someone else. Alcohol is a controlled substance. So are many narcotic type meds. They may be legal for some to possess, but illegal for others. Since it is illegal for a 15 year old to possess and consume beer, it would be an illegal substance in your hands.

You answered your own question. It does not matter natural or enchanced. All benefit from more mind muscle conection.

Yeah, I guess I interpret it as making a maximum muscle contraction, which seems to be enhanced when I control the weight in a more concentrated way.

Its obvious when you move the weight in a slower, controlled manner, and with less swinging, youll have a greater maximum muscle contraction.

I guess its the whole notion of making a 5 pound weight feel like a 100 pound weight depending on how you move it.

Cool. Should we ever meet up, we can meet at that sign in Pioneer Square .  “Meet me under the clock” -All Portlanders knew that meant the clock in the middle of the main floor at Meier & Frank. The store and the clock are gone now, but the building is once again named Meier & Frank.
