spence/garcia 3/16
« on: March 13, 2019, 07:44:12 AM »
firstly $75 is ridiculous for a PPV when the era of superstars is over, the fight will air free on UKs ITV4

secondly does the good small man have a chance against the good big man

I like both guys and think Garcia is the better schooled boxer. That said, Mikey’s ideal weight is probably 135, while Spence is a big WW and probably ideal at 154. I don’t see how Mikey overcomes the reach advantage Spence has. Spence is also a vicious body puncher and will hit Mikey far harder than he’s ever been hit. I think Garcia does well early, but Spence breaks him down and stops him in the later rounds.

it might look like canelo vs khan, except the difference in dimensions will be more pronounced.

garcia looks like a career sub 140 lbs fighter, whereas spence looks like he can fight at around 160 lbs.

and garcia isn't like pacman with the power and explosiveness.

so I don't see it ending well for him.

This is pretty hard to disagree with.  Mikey is in a no lose situation (unless he ends up badly injured).  He is supposed to lose to Spence but if he acquits himself well and loses, there is still a Pac-man fight or Lomachenko fight as well.  If Spence loses or squeaks by, he is forever tarnished.  I've heard from some savvy boxing guys who say Mikey said he sees something in Spence that he will be able to exploit.  I don't doubt this, but whether or not Mikey is the right guy to capitalize on these flaws remains to be seen.

I really cannot stand Al Haymon or the PBC.  He's got a huge pool of talent and his best guys rarely face each other.  Many of his guys have either stagnated or gotten worse since signing with him/PBC.  For instance, Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman and Gary Russell Jr. off the top of my head.  I fear that this could be the case with Spence as well.  We shall see.  Also, their production value is the worst in all of boxing.

I just saw the weigh in and man Garcia looks like shit.  146 lbs and not a drop of muscle or definition.  I know it's a boxing match and not a bodybuilding contest, but the other guy has 15+ lbs on him, if they were in the same condition.

I give credit to Garcia for stepping up and having the balls to take this fight like a man, kudos. The hell I predict Spence will put him through, is a different story. It won't be a walk in the park for Garcia and better have done some ab work for the body-punch treatment Spence will treat him through...

Crawford asked for the Spence fight.  Tim Shaw and Derrick James said Spence isn't ready, will try to age Crawford out of his prime.  There is always someone at weight willing to fight. Gamboa/Crawford, Khan/Canelo, Rigo/Loma and Brook/GGGimmick have already moved up 2 weight classes. Mikey isn't doing anything we haven't seen. No way in hell with his resume Mikey is the 2nd coming of FMW Jr or Roberto Duran (BTW he had several 147 fights before he fought Leonard) moving from 135-147

Robert Garica will need that white towel to clean Mikey's rear end from the body shots.

Spence is slightly smaller than Lara, Trout and Lubin who are considered small 154s when compared to Charlos, Hurd, Harrison, etc. It's not his fault this generation of welterweights are all 5'7 and under.

Doesn't matter if it's pre-pubescant or ped related, Error Spence should have that gun owners removed. Why in the fuck didn't he have that done years ago?
