I just received some very very sad news from Josh. Our beloved Potato passed away at 13.5 years young. She suffered a stroke. I know that Potato is very loved and a star of getbig. I have always enjoyed seeing pics of her over the years. That adorable little face. I am so sorry for your loss Josh. She had a great life with you. Rest In Peace Potato 💐

I don’t believe we ever do get over the loss of a pet. Animals give unconditional love and never say or do a mean or hurtful thing towards us. Their companionship gives so much joy.

Sure, I just meant that it takes a while before you can deal with other dogs, etc... easily. It took me quite a few months before I could be around them without being a little sad or wanting another.

It is the worst thing....I still haven't gotten another Greyhound since my last one went.  Stay strong Josh and focus on the good times you had with Potato (the majority of her life), do not dwell on the minuscule end part which is so infinitesimal minority of life.

Unconditional love is very hard to come by through humans.  A dog loves you no matter what but a spouse or lover requires all kinds of conditions so it really isn't love.

the end of a dogs life is often times horrific, and can scar a human permanently.... treat them well, and limit suffering when the time comes.
