They claim this will give kids an extra hour of sleep but kids will just end up going to sleep an hour later.

This must be the real reason.

Seems like a good idea. Not sure it will fix sleep deprivation among teenagers though. Oregon had shorter daylight hours. When school start times are 8:00 A.M. or before children are walking to school or to the bus in the dark.

I don't see what the problem is?  I thought the majority of schools already started at 0800 or later.

  • I hope I'm not boring you.
Not a big deal, the average start time in about 90% American schools is 8 am, so at worst you're talking about 1/2 hour of lost time at most at the High School level.

There’s a reason why for the past 5 off-seasons why I’ve had my players on the field and in the weightroom from 5:45-7:00am

Stupid.

But for quite, it just means that they will take a 'zero' period class starting at 7:30am so they can play on a team, or other extra activities that they want.

Even more stupid is that they want high school classes to start at 8:30 due to 'lack of sleep' but middle school classes to start at 8am.  What a crock.  So like us, having two kids in two different schools will now mean that you need to spend a half hour in the car or going back and forth, while being late for work if you start at 9am.  This is exactly why the idiots in Sacramento don't get it.  Leave the control to the local school board who understands their community.

Of course you think it’s a good idea.

Another win for the Chinese.

And the SoKos, Japanese, and Indian.

No, no, no.  There's a provision of the law that allows door-to-door searches for children who stay up later than before.
Beto-approved.   :D
