Yeah, they're horrid bitches. But what quality of worker are you expecting to get when you pay peanuts and don't supervise them? You're selecting for the worst staff you can find and then not watching them.
How the fuck aged care workers aren't wearing body cams is beyond me. Every week it's the same story of shocking abuse. How is it shocking? It's a regular thing. And every week it's "These people are bad." Well bad people exist and we know that. If you can't stop them from getting the job and abusing the elderly then it's your hiring and supervision which is the problem.
Pay real money, get real workers, cam footage all the time. Boom. Solved.

But of course the situation it's quite complicated: from my personal experience (at least here in Italy) I can tell you there are two types of nursing homes.
My father had Alzheimer's desease and the choice is between a private solution and one run by the State.
Here's the point: monthly cost of the private one (our choice) was roughly 2200 USD while the one run by the State was 400.
Both solutions should provide the same service: doctors, nurses, meals, diapers, medications.
So long story short: how can anyone expect a Lada to drive and feel like a Caddillac?
Of course there are people who can't afford a Caddillac but it's not reasonable to have different expectations.
