Art Atwood and Greg Kovacs would not have believe you if you told them what age they would pass, you should see the inherent logic in this.
That's sad...but most likely true.

You would think if anything, Kovacs would have had some awareness of that.
Last year, I was watching a video of Brian Shaw where he was saying that he hopes his young son can admire what he achieved in strongman. It got me thinking...does Shaw expect to be around for his son's 15th birthday? That is...does Shaw have the expectation to live to 50? I could see him maybe making that age, but weighing up to 450-lb doesn't bode well for longevity.
It sometimes makes me wonder if these guys would really think it was worth it, if they felt that they would not live very long. I do know that Ronnie is very happy with the trajectory that his life took...I'm just less certain about other guys. Art Atwood and Greg Kovacs, as mentioned - Mike Matarazzo, who absolutely expressed regret about his pro bodybuilding career, and probably some others.
To some extent, it makes it hard for me to support bodybuilding, because I worry about these guys.
