I don't think Trump wanted this huge quarantine to start with that's why they had to drag him to do it. This will go down in history as a huge overreach. They should have had people over 55 quarantine themselves and let the rest of the country go to work as usual with some safe distancing at work.
They could have passed a bill where people with the Coronavirus could stay home until better with it not being counted against their attendance at work. If they just made the lost income a tax deduction it wouldn't have cost the government anything up front and business would have gone on as usual without needing 2 trillion plus to stimulate the economy. This also would have sped up the herd immunity. Even if the Coronavirus is almost completely eliminated over the next few weeks it's just going to flare up again as soon as everything returns to normal.
