Thor's lift now live on ESPN
« on: April 15, 2020, 04:46:44 PM »
Good for Thor! I hope he smashes the world record. I wonder what Eddie, Bryan and Robert will do now? Anyone who follows strongman knows those 3 guys hate Thor and their videos are clearly biased.
This lift will be legitimate. Big Z head judge and live. Cant wait.
Eddie can go about flicking guys in the nuts like he seems to love doing and wave his record bye bye in the process:)

There is no debate. He either will set the record or he won’t.

That record was set in a competition, it should be broken in a competition.

Is he using that ridiculous elephant bar to break the record? If so, anyone know the "whip" on that thing? And is he using his own personal broken in Elephant bar at his own gym? How much more "Whip" does his personal bar have?

Thors a spoiled crybaby... He should have to wait like everybody else..

Home gym, not a fair world record. Should not be official under any circumstance.

Don't really care who has the record. Records are meant to be broken. Eddie puts up great content while Thor has the personality of an ash tray

As long as the weights are calibrated, the bar is the same type as the current record was set on and there is a legit head judge. All which seem to be the case. There isn't much to complain about.

Also this being live streamed on ESPN will be huge for strongman in general.

Magnus Ver Magusson is judging, not Big Z, and it's Brian, not Bryan.

Unbelievable the amount of heated emotions this thing has generated on social media.

Personally, I don't get the criticism that this can't be a "record" or "official". I don't care what it's classed as, if he does lift it and we can be reasonably sure that the weight is what is stated it will be quite a thing to see. Many say it's harder in real competition but that is not always the case. I've been told by many competitive powerlifters that competition always adds a certain percentage to their lifts, they simply could not generate the same mental intensity for PRs in the gym by themselves.

Further, supposedly Eddie's lift was done at a meet that was specifically tailored for him to attempt the lift. He decided the rest intervals and all the rest.

The most infuriating comments I saw were pencilnecks saying that beating Eddie's lift by just 1kg was ridiculous, that it should be 35kg or whatever Eddie beat the old record by. That's such a stupid comment from many angles.

It FAR from a given that he will do it. Many don't understand what a monumental feat this thing is. Some idiots were seriously saying that Thor should do a double with the 501 to remove all doubt. Lol yeah, nothing to it, just double it.
