Unbelievable the amount of heated emotions this thing has generated on social media.
Personally, I don't get the criticism that this can't be a "record" or "official". I don't care what it's classed as, if he does lift it and we can be reasonably sure that the weight is what is stated it will be quite a thing to see. Many say it's harder in real competition but that is not always the case. I've been told by many competitive powerlifters that competition always adds a certain percentage to their lifts, they simply could not generate the same mental intensity for PRs in the gym by themselves.
Further, supposedly Eddie's lift was done at a meet that was specifically tailored for him to attempt the lift. He decided the rest intervals and all the rest.
The most infuriating comments I saw were pencilnecks saying that beating Eddie's lift by just 1kg was ridiculous, that it should be 35kg or whatever Eddie beat the old record by. That's such a stupid comment from many angles.
It FAR from a given that he will do it. Many don't understand what a monumental feat this thing is. Some idiots were seriously saying that Thor should do a double with the 501 to remove all doubt. Lol yeah, nothing to it, just double it.
