I agree.  It's not racist at all and all it does is muck up the facts and distort the solutions when a race card is thrown in.   Now, maybe there is argument that calling it the "Chinese virus" is racist or at the very least inappropriate.  But calling it the "China virus", in my mind isn't at all racist.

Regardless of how someone feels about Trump, I think we can invalidate the last part of your sentence due to the timing. WaPO had an article calling for the start of the impeachment process the day after inauguration, and the FBI was trying to find dirt during the election process.

They never really gave themselves a chance to see his performance, they just went full attack while in shock from losing an election they deemed impossible to lose.

Trumps was completely egotistical before this.  Combine this with being attacked 24/7 since day one and you get the results we see now.
