Oregon's Reopening
« on: May 15, 2020, 05:16:00 PM »
As of today, May 15, 2020 Oregon began the slow reopening process in the majority of the counties (31) in Oregon. None of these include the Portland, Metro area. The state also is allowing most retail stores statewide to open their doors with the exception of shopping centers and Malls.

Reopening plans for Marion and Polk counties were not approved. Each has seen a recent spike in hospitalizations as well as new coronavirus cases that could not be traced to an identified source, according to state health officials.

My gym is in Clackamas county which has not yet applied to reopen. It will be interesting to see how this progresses over the next couple of weeks.

People who live in the Portland Metro area are asked to continue to stay at home and to not travel to other counties for services because it could overwhelm the businesses.

Governor Brown and her medical experts emphasized repeatedly that Oregon was still in a precarious position and they fully expect an uptick in COVID-19 cases as a result of the easing restrictions. Their hope, they said, is that residents everywhere will continue to cooperate and maintain social distancing protocols so any increase remains manageable.

As of today there are 3,500 COVID-19 cases and 139 deaths in Oregon.

If they don't allow you to go to work it's not a reopening.

Where did you get the idea that folks cannot go back to work from what I posted?

I do have another Zoom board meeting on Monday. It is because we can do this and not because we can't meet in person. Of course, this is volunteer work so guess that makes a difference. But if stores and business around the state are allowed to open, wouldn't it follow that the folks working there would be back at work?
