May be a good thing to have a strong arm society in some respects no more taxes but harder to buy goods. It will be harder and harder to buy anything as the public police fades away, buisnesses shut down ect.

This is a very real possibility its starting now
Thiis is a perfect way to destroyusa

I was thinking more of the cities and towns away from the coast.

Private security is basically how people live in South Africa.
The cops there are either useless, bribed, or too scared to enforce laws so people live in gated communities with a private police force.

I almost want to see the US try this out. Because it will show why cops are needed for society to function. What will happen is wealthy neighborhoods will hire private police forces, business owners will open shops within the confines of those neighborhoods and pay into the private police force to protect their businesses. And the poor/urban areas will see its businesses shut down or moved to the wealthy areas due to heightened crime. The people protesting against police right now are going to be the ones most hurt by their own policy (physically and financially).

The more sensible thing to do would be to unarm regular patrol cops and only bring in the guns for serious situations, like they do in the UK. However, this will never work in the US, because almost anyone can procure a gun, legally or otherwise. If the public is armed, it only makes sense for the cops to be armed.

Yes, people think the ghettos are bad now, just wait until there are no cops.  Complete war zones.

Interesting post. I too would like to see the US try this out.

US healthcare and working practices are more in line with 3rd world countries than with most of the West, so why not try it with law enforcement too.

Which countries of the world have better healthcare and working practices?

I didn't say "better" I said "in line with"...

So compared to some  European countries healthcare is not free for all, working hours are longer, less sick pay, less paid holiday leave etc etc. That's more in line with 3rd world countries.

Is that the reason why the US economy is more often than not the envy of the world, and why the US leads in science and technology?

My point obviously flew over your head, but I admire you trying your best to find something to get me on after I owned the fuck out of you in another thread. However you're reaching because your point has very little to do with what I said.

But in a roundabout way you actually make an interesting point without realizing it. Americans don't have the same safety net as Europeans so tend to work much harder doing the same jobs as their European counterparts, and naturally that leads to them being more productive. That safety net also makes Europeans less risk adverse and dampens their entrepreneurial spirit.  This definitely helps US excel in many more areas. You could say Europe has got soft and just doesn't have the heart for it like the US.

Did you really?  Well, good for you.  Your mother must be proud.

I can stand behind that
I'd rather be on top of it.
