Fedor was likely on juice in Pride. It was encouraged by promotors of the competition even, as said in interviews of people involved after.

Very true.  Kind of like how Georges St-Pierre was the biggest pay-per-view star in his day, despite his fights being called boring by many people.  I never personally found GSP's fights boring, but it was common to hear people say that, yet he still sold more pay-per-views than any other UFC athlete.

Fedor is surprisingly witty... One interviewer told him that a guy wanted to fight him and Fedor replied "why does everyone want to fight me? No one wants to just have dinner and some good conversation?"   All delivered with a straight face...
