WTF California?
« on: November 09, 2021, 08:28:49 AM »
taking the math out of math? Discouraging smart kids? What a fucked up state

The spotlight is once again on the State of California and its proposed new mathematics framework for grades K-12. The proposed framework would "de-mathematize math" and encourage the use of a "trauma-informed pedagogy," as an open letter to Governor Gavin Newsom signed by more than 900 professors of math and science from across California put it. The framework also rejects the idea of natural or innate giftedness among children and discourages allowing students to be placed into accelerated courses even if they have mastered the material covered in the course.

this and metaverse, it's all about escorting young mindless zombies into a Matrix world.  Picture a bunch of obese youth slobs wearing vr headsets, drinking sodas and drooling and shitting themselves.  Come on over, Russia!  Bring China!  You'll get no fight from us!   >:(

One day California will come to its senses. But it's going to have to crash and burn first.

Mathematics can be taught at home no problem. I actually home schooled my son and he learned calculus by the equivalent of 10th grade. It's actually easy to teach -there are so many books that simplify things.

The public school kids are being groomed to be retards. kinda like Strawman but not as bad.

Very true.

My cousin homeschooled all 3 of his kids and they are far advanced in anything Science related.

Public schools teach down to the slow kids.

There should always be an accelerated class for kids who put in more effort or learn faster.

It blows my mind that anyone thinks this is a good idea.

Except for those with kids who are at the bottom. Since most parents don't help their children and rely on the school system to do it, which is a shame.

You want smart kids? Teach them at home and assist them.

Any widely respected and used math textbook would have been written by a mathematician much more experienced and talented in teaching math than an average public high school math teacher. Just read the book.

One day California will come to its senses.

Some people believe California will wash into the pacific ocean in an earthquake induced tsunami. This will happen before the populous residents of California come to their senses.
