i hit the glutes and i dont usually aspirate..but i stay high and to the side on the glutes and that the ONLY place i shoot..i alrernate glutes ! hardly any vessels there..unless you'r gaspari.. 
the one time i did hit a vein i pulled out and a stream of blood shot out and my girl at the time freaked out...
thing is to inject directly into a vein you gotta go in at an angle(like when they draw blood)..otherwise you'r gonna damage the vessel..ie go in one end and out the other..unless you'r one helluva unlucky bastard and actually end up with the tip of the dart dead center of a vessel around 10 to 20 mms in diameter.

Unless you are going at a 180 degree angle with the vein, the odds of you injecting directly in to a vein are miniscule.
