SLIGHT DELAY GETTING BACK TO THE STATES!

So this morning I was backing out and there was a pedestrian walking down the sidewalk. Now if you've ever been in this situation you're wondering if you should wait or just go for it. The person was elderly and if anyone knows they vary in speed with their walking. It was like she was walking normal then limping and then stopping to take a break. 
Well....I went for it and I hit her.
She's dead.
The OPP detained me for 8 hours and didn't like it when I suggested that maybe her death was COVID related. I feel bad enough but what was I suppose to do?

A friend of mine literally did this by accident, lol. Some poor old lady was pottering around the streets like a sloth on diazepam, and he came reversing out of a driveway in his van at Mach 3 and steamrolled her.
