these are the legends of wrestling just off the top of my head from that era early 90's - early 2000's

hogan
flair
michaels
austin
rock
sting
undertaker
foley
goldberg
savage
angle
triple h

these guys were legendary in and out of the ring, famous to even non wrestling fans and capable of being the number 1 guy in the company

i would put the following guys in the 2nd tier, main eventers but not who you wanted to be your leading face or heel, if they were the number 1 name in the company the company was in big trouble, i don't think they deserve legendary status they were great but not quite the best of the best

bret hart
nash
hall
sid
jericho
vader
benoit
luger

i'm sure i missed a few guys

E

When i watched Wrestling back in the 80s, to me it was always Ultimate Warrior.

piper isn't a legend either, hall of fame status but not legendary status just like hall

i think piper was the world champion, at least in NWA

E

Earl…. Piper left wrestling at or near his peak to pursue action films. You’re thinking Hot Rod is King Kong Bundys equal? Piper was legendary during the 80s. He was still a name in the 90s but never a world champ even in the NWA.

Big E and Kofi Kingston are former world champions, neither will ever be considered legendary.

Tell that to Pipers family.

The belt is a prop, Hall is likely the best wrestler to never hold the world title, or piper.

Yes.  Piper created modern professional wrestling. Scott Hall was the next in line. McMahon didn't get it. He was pushing boring big guys. Piper CARRIED WrestleMania, the first one. And the first WrestleMania was the most important event in modern pro wrestling history.

ALL the storylines went through Pipers Pit. Say your prayers and eat your vitamin was all Hogan could do on the mic Mr. T didn't know where he was. Cyndi Lauper, Wendy Richter, ALL of them went through Pipers Pit.

Few had decent mic skills before Piper and later Hall. Hogan was a Superstar Billy Graham imitation. It was Piper and later Hall who changed the business.

This is Pipers masterpiece with Snuka. To this DAY people question if it was real. That's a master. Scott Hall was the successor to the throne. Masters of their trade.

doesn't deserve legendary status when he had those looks and charisma and was never world champion

the few times he was in the main event it was just to put over the bigger star

WHAT?

The dude had a 20 year as a top guy using his marriage to kill any young talent that got over. Who else could have done something like that?

why doesn't he belong on the list?  he was the number 1 bad guy back when wrestling was mainstream and at its peak in the early 2000's

scott hall's best buddy kevin nash did the same thing in wcw

i mean nash booked himself to end goldberg's undefeated streak, though you could argue he redeemed himself laying down for hogan the next night on nitro

Earl I appreciate your perspective.

If Scott wanted the world title in WCW he would have had it. He was in the business for money at that point.

Vince Russo and David Arquatte both “won” the world title. Neither are legends.

why wouldn't scott want the world title?  they all wanted money, what does that have to do with the title?  wouldn't he make more money if he had the belt?

when russo and arquette won the title WCW was desperate for ratings so you could say they were just throwing crap at the wall and hoping it would stick to get attention

dave if you got a problem with me you can go down there

down where?  down here!!!!

i already explained why, guess they didn't think scott was good enough to draw interest away from wwf

wcw valued scott so much they paid him 30k a week to stay home and do nothing

      ;D.                                                  ;D

Scott did it for the $$$$
For a couple of years he was the highest paid wrestler..
Had it written in his contract.. Nobody could be paid.more than him.. Wcw had to always match it / giving him a pay raise..
