Up there with some of the best. If you like westerns at all... you'll enjoy this!

I read good things about the show and watched it.  I’m not into westerns in general, but this was a great exception.

Learning that it was a prequel to Yellowstone had me curious about the first.  I watched the first four seasons of Yellowstone and was impressed.

Going forward, I’ll watch anything Taylor Sheridan writes.

Just started Ep 1 of Yellowstone last night. It's not an immediate hook but so many people have vouched for it that I will continue it

1883 was good. Also check out Lonesome Dove. It was done in 1989 and has a similar storyline to 1883. And it has Robert Duval, Tommy Lee Jones and Diane Lane. I really thought Lonesome Dove was well done. 4 Episodes about a group travelling from Texas to Montana, similar to 1883.

1883 was made after Yellowstone's  success.

Same here. Sheridan gave us the Sicario movies and a few others. I really like his way of telling a story and directing shows.

Mayor of Kingstown with Jeremy Renner is great. Future shows to look forward to include Tulsa King with Sylvester Stallone  and 1923 with Harrison Ford and Hellen Mirren. 1923 is another prequel to Yellowstone and follows the Duttons after they arrived in Montana from Texas as depicted in the 1883 show.

Then there is also the Yellowstone spinoff show "6666" with Jimmy which should be interesting. There's a hilarious scene in Yellowstone where they ask Jimmy to hold a horse's dick at Four Sixes Ranch so it can ejaculate. The look on his face and what he said was hilarious!

The horse spooge scene look authentic.  I wonder if the actor got a bonus?

The layers build, a number of slow burns grow to conflagrations.  And that's just the first season.  :D

I'm 3 episodes in and perplexed. I think watching 1883 where James Dutton was a stand up guy, trying to do the right thing, makes the Kevin Costner character seem like a sinister character that will stop at nothing to win.. a little disappointed so far. I might have had a different expectation going in had I not seen 1883 first.

To make it Getbig worthy, the daughter in the water trough scene was great

You're starting to notice the layers.  The scabs of the layers will be torn off, but the layers will accumulate.

I'm further in now. Still not up to the 1883 standard but worthy of night time watching

It's good.

However, I don't have the context of 1883 like you have....there are plenty of flashbacks to that time in the show that will build and show you why today's Dutton behaves like he does.

I would put 1883 up there with some of the best. Have a couple friends that watched Yellowstone but not 1883. I urged them to watch 1883 and as of today have gotten texts that they were blown away. If you haven't seen it.. I really urge you to see it even if it means paying for a month's subscription.

Yes, I absolutely am going to.

I really liked Yellowstone, and I have heard a lot of people loving 1883.

I need a new series anyway....watching Dopesick now, but it's just a filler.
