At last year's Olympia his calves were still riddled with all those wormy veins, at the Arnolds this year they looked pretty much flawless. What did he do to get rid of em so quickyl? ???

There are treatments/surgeries you can have to repair them to a certain extend.  Ranging from ultrasound therapy, lasers, to actually going in and reworking/rerouting the blood flow so it doesn't cause the ones near the surface of the skin to bulge.

I know sometimes they pull the veins all the way from the groin. Pretty cool I think.

It is an extremely painful, multi-month series of surgeries performed by a vascular surgeon.

I have a friend, bodybuilder, competitive bodybuilder… he traveled from Las Vegas to San Francisco 11-12 times to visit his vascular surgeon and he underwent 10-11 procedures. Very painful.

The appearance is better but not much better.  Bummer. He’s a good guy.

there is a member on here with the handle "vascsurgeon" who briefly shared some info on varicose veins with Mister Arvilla

Once veins are removed surgically, they do not come back. Other veins can emerge due to the underlying issue not being treated.

not true (unfortunately) wish  I had know this before I went thru the very painful and costly surgery!  They are actually programmed to grow back after trauma! “Many patients experience excellent results from surgical procedures to get rid of many varicose veins, but sometimes varicose veins do reoccur. Up to 60 percent of patients may have their varicose veins return after treatment (ii) and this can be frustrating.”

Let me give you another example, if you have a tooth extracted does it return?
I'm just trying to help, you are misinformed.

The underlying condition needs to be addressed and when it's not, then you have a poor result, similar to yours.

ok fair enough! (I’m just telling my own real life experience) I had really bad varicose veins mostly on my Lower legs (shins and calves) I didn’t mind them too much , but people would always say something to me / make comments about them …. Had a girlfriend who talked me into going to a vein specialist (vascular surgeon ) who removed them thru vein stripping surgery and laser ablation … it wasn’t a one time deal ….it fucking hurt like hell! … all the varicose veins were gone …. Now they are back (not as bad as before but still they were completely gone! … I just snapped this pic now….. I’m no expert in veins I just know what I went thru …

Understood and that's a good picture. The vein that was ablated likely was your Greater Saphenous vein, maybe mid calf to groin through the medial/inside of your leg. That picture almost certainly is your Lesser or sometimes called Small Saphenous vein. It communicates with your deep venous system differently than your treated vein. Basically what I'm saying is its a totally different vein.
There is a good chance that you have valvular insufficiency behind your knee at the Sapheno - Popliteal Junction along with deep venous insufficiency.
Stay hydrated during the hot summer months to help avoid phlebitis which is very painful.
Again, I'm just trying to help, sorry you had a less than pleasurable surgical experience.

What underlying condition?

Venous Insufficiency

This one I actually “ nicked “ with a razor and it was spurting blood 🩸….spraying might be a better term …. Not sure what’s going on there

That looks like an untreated segment of the previously treated vein, but I'm guessing from a single picture. The procedures you had should have been pain free, next time, if there is one, get a script for Valium or similar to help you relax and maybe sleep if no anesthesia is used.
Also, consider an electric razor for those problem areas.

Actually that " Vascosurgeon" account taught me some things I didn't know (I guess they don't actually come back? It's the same vein they removed / they just didn't get all of it? Something like that ...  here's a couple more pics of mine ... red sneakers is before and the other pic is after the surgery ( they were totally gone / or looked like it ..   my quads and calves were veinless after multiple surgeries....

Why bother? Your GF should only care about your face, abs, and dick. Hopefully you kicked her to the curb and sprayed some of that calf blood on her!!

Isn’t there also a type of compression machine some people put on their legs and elevate them before bed to reduce varicose veins??

I know a couple of bigger dudes that sometimes use compression socks

But that part above about venous insufficiency being a cause makes you wonder about those guys with a lot of squiggle on their chests, arms, etc.  Don Ross, Rich Piana, etc...

Chest vein issue is typically caused by a central stenosis/narrowing impeding the venous flow causing  vein distension. Along with hypertension and elevated hematocrit and you have a Paul Dillet look.

That's a shame, probably should have considered using another doctor. That sounds like several attempts to fix a problem that doesn't typically require more than 2-3 treatments between laser, stripping and injections. Hopefully he is happy with the end result.

Which would explain why he dropped down after his scare.  So these are not good health indicators... wonder why people ignore them

(thanks Doc 8))

Physical illness is often obvious, mental illness often is invisible. That mental illness is why things are ignored and why most of the competitors look like they  do, sadly.
