Yup.  My dad taught me that if you at least show up for work the boss will be pleased.  But if you show up on time and actually do WORK?  He will never forget you and you will go a  LOT further in whatever you do.

Firstly, this is probably just propaganda. Too many older workers retired (or are working less) Covid shut downs showed them how fun retirement could potentially be. They need them to return to work  so are just trying to make hiring them look sexy again.

Second, hard workers are just given more work. In most jobs rarely does being a hard worker, work to your advantage.

Some of us are far from domesticated, especially when threatened.  I perceive no such threats from you sir but I have worked for decades at a variety of jobs and I never balanced a single ball nor do I eat sardines.

Perhaps the perspective could be i worked hard so my kids don’t have to go through the stress and bullshit I did?

Overpaid overtime wasn’t rewarded, it became expected. Busting your guts at work was unrewarded as you aren’t paid on output but time.

I’m not trying to sound like a prick btw but a reality check I got a 3% salary increase and I am a tier 1 performer. CPI was 7.8% here.
