Arnold's English Accent
« on: May 30, 2023, 02:59:47 AM »
I was watching FUBAR last night, not that I'd recommend it.

Anyway - I found that if you close your eyes, Arnold's accent turns slightly English. I might have been on the Indica at the time - but I was wondering if anyone else had tried this. I tried it again the next day and can confirm his accent changes when you close your eyes.

Or maybe it's just me.

Arnold has lived in the U.S. for almost 60 years and he talks like he just got off the boat.

His accent was still very thick.

My wife watched the whole series while I suffered through the vile total shitshow that it was........I wasn`t watching but was on my laptop but it was distracting and just a waste.

I don't care so much about his political bullshit. He's always been very liberal minded. Listen to his old interviews. It didn't matter whether it was sex, drugs, race whatever....he was socially liberal but had a mind for discipline and business success.

Of all the neo liberal talking points he could possibly support now I suppose climate is the least obnoxious. It does seem that there is some evidence of climate change although the cause of any climate change is debatable. At least it's not some totally woke trans/blm/crt/anti-white insanity.I didn't like his 'screw your freedoms' stance and his behavior at that time. He's since apologized for it.

If you think about it it's amazing he was able to have any kind of comeback from the maid scandal. I mean she was hideous. Then to have the kid grow up in the same house. And get busted because it looks exactly like you? Hahahaha lolololo. What an embarrassing failure. Most people would just disappear from public view in utter disgrace. But he was able to survive it and now live out his disappointing 4th act.

His accent though. For some reason this irritates me. I really can't stand to hear him talk. His accent is heavier now than it was 30 or 40 years ago. Not only that it sounds like he's imitating himself almost cartoonish. He's become a parody of himself. Everything he does or says is very 'preachy' or whimsical and phoney. I think people get that way when they know they're close to the end of the line.

You might be right, although I'm hoping someone gives it a try.

The maid wasn't bad when he knocked her up.

Maria has hit the wall harder.  Brutal.

I think once you get past puberty, you can’t/don’t really refine the accent of your second language. You start getting by and just stop trying. I doubt his ear even picks up on it.
