Well here is my opinion after reading the full article, probably not in line with what most people think.
I think it is not a good trend that employees can do absolutely nothing. Well, maybe better to have Security Guards rather than regular employees doing intervention. But I hear that, in addition to employees being 100% hands off, the retailers are even cutting back on Security staff and also telling them they cannot do too much. Well, then are we surprised that the criminals don’t have any fear??
BUT, I think it was fine for this employee to film the events on his phone (the more evidence the better) but I am 100% on the company’s side that he should not have appointed himself a private investigator and posted the photos he took on TikTok. I might well have fired him myself for doing that.
