two Dumbbell rods & lots of plates is all you need with a decent bench.
I have been in many situations where i only used basics..intensity is key not fancy machines.

I had fixed dumbbells and a rack in my basement. I use to use two spin lock bars with plates on a waist high strong table.  Even with the ends of the bars sticking out I found it easy to angle the dumbbell on my thighs to kick them up for stuff like inclines. About two years ago I sold all my fixed dumbbells and went back to the adjustable with the plates. I can even make odd weights like progress from 65,68 and 70. Takes under a minute to make two dumbbells.

Any  GetBiggers here have one of these? If so, what make/brand?
How do you rate it?

Have these new Arsenal pieces that arrived this week. Awesome leg day yesterday

I got two rods from a metalwork & had lots of plates and i mean you can stick big plates on there for benches or rows.
Nowadays i have decent home gym but i still remember the basic workouts which were great. :)
It´s your mindset  :)

Watched some vids they do seem a bit flimsy, so will probably pass and keep using my Smith when I feel like doing those for a change.
(I made a bolt-on foot base for the bar).
Thx for all of your feedback...

I'm looking to add one piece to the home-gym, so I'll research some things.

The Titan "shoulder press, lateral raise" machine looks decent too. (Since I love doing shoulders)...
We shall see..

Like NAT mentioned, Im pretty loaded w/ leg stuff as it is. (Belt-SQ, Leverage-SQ, Leg-Curl, Leg-Ext, Smith-Machine, SQ-Cage, etc).

.

Used to watch a group of Jamaican soccer players do them on a Smith machine like that.

My friends did these very hardcore, I mean loading the bar with 6 or 700lbs. They would come up uneven, the bar rolling on their feet. I didn't even try, crazy risky. But these guys did them religiously for years.

I used to train at a gym that had a vertical leg press. The machine looked bad ass. But it was nothing special for building the thigh mass.

Should only be used for higher reps and low weight. You'll fvck your back up if you go heavy and don't have mobility of a gymnast

I used to the inclined leg press but had a poorer sense of the stress it imposed on the joints as it was easier to load up the weight without thinking than the squat
besides would you really like the idea of being found dead  - on your back, legs in the air and buttocks forced opened?

I noticed with the angled leg press that all the machines have a different feel. Some are just built wrong. They had one in my last commercial gym that nobody used. It was just built wrong, and a few guys ruined their knees. Some you just can't get a full range of motion because of the angles. My home gym unit is built just perfect. Full range of motion and the movement feels right.

The majority of guys do partials on leg presses and sometimes it makes me think I should try it instead of doing a full knee bend. Shawn Ray and Yates do a full range, but the majority of pros don't.

BHanks offering leg training advice is almost as funny as Alexxx giving Lee Priest tips on training chest.

Maybe Lee should have taken his advice cause his chest sucks compared to the rest of him

Lee is just good at shitting on chests

I like the angled leg press from Cybex that pivots. The call this machine: “squat press”.

I cant feel it strain my lower back, so I think IM OK there (I do them on Smith). You have to use much less weight on Vertical, and do each rep controlled and proper.
I never feel these in lower-back. (Even though I have a bad one from slight curve at base causing nerve pinching)... Minor scoliosis / sciatica.

Yeah i get that but the body position is in my opinion dangerous, it´s basically same position as a seated leg press...body like an L .
however seated which i like is only on your Quads with your lower back in a better position & no weight coming down on you directly which is gravity.
I´ve seen fools even doing this on a smith machine  :D

That was Jay Cutler.  Please update your getbig_lore.xls spreadsheet accordingly.
