about this post

I guess the Bush tax cuts were bad because Obama just extended them then took credit for it.

Credit is just a stupid number they try to scare you with, it means nothing, pay with cash.

actually, its everything.

here in canada you can't buy a car, house, you can't even rent a movie from a video store with bad credit.

why? because you need a credit card to become a rogers/blockbuster etc member that allows you to rent a movie.

and you can't get a credit card with bad credit.

you also can't rent an apartment even because there are credit checks prior to lease agreements.

unless you have a family member or friend to cosign and take responsibility for everything, you can't do anything.

you cant book a trip because it requires a credit card these days, you can't do anything.

bad credit = severely limiting your options in life.

not exactly, you can use a bank card from checking account that can be used as a credit card, with terrible credit(that addresses your booking a trip portion as well).  You can buy a house with terrible credit, you buy it cash, you can buy a car with bad credit, buy it with cash.  Don't trust the banks to keep your money safe, your money with them can be frozen at anytime, it really isn't yours when it is with them.

no you can't.

because no one with bad credit has 250K in cash to buy a house and 40K cash to buy a car.

if you did you wouldn't have had bad credit in the first place.

everyone I know who has had credit problems also has no money all the time or cash flow problems.

someone with bad credit yet tons of cash might exist, but its pretty rare and an unlikely situation.

having bad credit generally means you either have a low paying job or having a great paying job but you spend way too much.

either way you won't have the cash flow or discipline (respectively) to save the kind of money it takes to buy a car or a house with straight cash.

Methyl Mike. He was always going on and on about what a Christian and Conservative he was, but then made this post about how he was rationalizing not paying off his credit card debt. Well, Bay got on him like a Rotty on a burglar. Soon after, MM changed his handle.    ;D

Unfortunately, one cannot escape bad credit with a simple name change. :-[

Not really, if they never get a credit card and just work their whole lives and save up money, they can have bad credit, yet have tons of cash.  Why get a credit card when all you are doing is spending money you don't have, it is an irresponsible practice encouraged by the banks.  Only should buy what you can afford with what you have on hand.

Having good credit and knowing how to use it can make your life much easier and open up new financial avenues. Why tie up a large chunk of your cash in something when you can use someone else's money, while putting the cash you have freed up to work for you? The better your credit, the lower the percentage rates are offered to you on your loans, saving you money and leaving you with more options.

And by the way since it was touched on earlier, there are a lot of Mexicans out there working hard  and providing for their families taking any job they can get their hands on. While some of you sit and bitch about not being able to find work with your degree , thinking you are a very qualified special little cupcake for whom any job just won't do.

Do you know many people like this?  I don't.  In fact, I cannot name one.

I have several wealthy friends; some of them have multiple homes, but none of them purchased their properties for all cash.  Are there houses one can buy for all cash?  Yes, but none of them are houses I would want to own or live in.

Not many people do, but the point I was making is you don't need good credit to be wealthy.  You can ignore credit situation all together and just save money up and use what cash you have on hand.  Some people when they get a credit card think they can afford things they can't and in the end screw themselves, or get credit for a loan they shouldn't be getting for a house and end up not being able to afford the payments.  If you buy with cash, you know what you have and what you can afford at the purchase point.

Also buying a house with cash gives you the buyer the ability to get a lower price if the owner see's the cash in front of him knowing he will get it right away once he sells you the house, it gives the owner a sense of instant gratification.

I dont like you fella,,but you are correct cash is always King,,,,in any world people who live off the credit system are those folks who DONT HAVE CASH!!! so they rely on credit to get them through,,,ones who are wealthy are are smart have good credt,,,but never use it,,,people who flaunt their credit such as baygm,,are those who dont have cash to back up their lving style,,so they use credit,,,vicious cycle

Having cash,,,also means you dont need good credit,,,they would loan 50k to someone,,,who is putting down 40k,,vs someone who has only 10k going for same loan,,,IN MY WORLD WE HAVE CASH FOR HOMRONES,,,,WE DONT USE CREDIT FROM SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BUY HORMONES
