Children are both a financial burden and a responsibility burden that people do not want to assume.
Instead people today want to spend their time with dogs and cats.
I think the pressure on women to have careers outside the home also comes into play and they delay having kids.
Most people today only have one or two maximum and some none.

Now, is this really the problem?
There are about 340 million people in the U.S.
More than any time in history.
Why is it not enough?
A reason often given is the need to support social programs.
Well, get rid of the programs or cut them back.

This is why we must continue, at least for a while, to import people. We don’t produce enough children and soon not enough people can pay into the system. Although we may get a break when all the baby boomers die off. Sucks, we won’t have people to build critical infrastructure.

Pay disparities between CEOs and workers does zero to support your comparison of "the wealthy" and slave labor.  Not trying to be rude, but it's a ridiculous comparison.  For the most part, the market and hard work dictate compensation.  No one is forced to work for "cheap."

The article makes the same mistake they always make with the "oppression to women" angle from the past. The division of labor was never oppression but simply different responsibilities. A large number of women in the workforce has actually increased infidelity and divorce.
