He threw away his life pursuing the syringe life style. He could have been an MD living in a nice house with a family. He still could have lifted as a recreation. At his peak he was making 200K a year which is over 500K today. What did he do with his wealth? He started a fitness magazine that failed and invested in out dated video making equipment. His drug use was out of control and it led to mental illness. So many guys I knew growing up threw away their chance at a career. Instead pursuing the muscles in a syringe neglecting a work ethic and training for a career. Anabolic steroids must have a powerful grasp on ones mind to want to keep those muscles over attaining a stable life.
The narration on that video was poorly written and I refute some of the things said. Many examples. Mentzer lost the Universe or what ever they were calling it at the time two years in a row. Once to Robby and once to Kalman. Then made it sound like he lost one time then won it. Many people think Arnold won the the 1980 Olympia. To think Mentzer who got 5th deserved first is nuts. I can hear an argument for Dickerson, Zane, Coe and Callender but Mike wasn't top three.
