I think Saddam Hussein and Khadaffi found out bunkers weren't the safest places to hide when they come after you.

Provided you're a christian who talks about the afterlife, many Christians don't as far as I understand it?

Do you really want to be in heaven explaining why you couldn't get it together and save the species?

Not sure if I want my first day in heaven spent with god giving me the "I'm not angry just supremely disappointed" speech.

how can us joe nobodies save the species?  we have no power or control over "doomsday"

Each has the responsibility to live a conscious life. It is a lack of consciousness that lets the darkness rule and destroy this world.

I keep about a month's worth for 2. I won't survive extended catastrophe but how much do I really want to spend vs the decreasing likelihood of longer uncivilized periods. At some point I'm better off investing that money toward more likely contingencies.

If there's no clean water available after 30 days then there's some wild shit going on and I probably wouldn't want to stay put anyway.
