Elon Musk

The country owes this man a debt of gratitude.  If he hadn't bought Twitter/X there would have been universal Big Tech censorship.  Endorsing Trump and campaigning for him was huge.  Not to mention his innovations with Tesla and space travel.  He is a national treasure.  I'm glad he is seeing financial rewards.

Tesla surpasses $1 trillion in valuation in the wake of Trump's victory
Shares in the electric automaker have soared approximately 23% since Wednesday.

By Rob Wile

Tesla returned to the $1 trillion club Friday, after its stock surged in the days following Donald Trump's presidential election victory.

Shares in the electric automaker have soared approximately 23% since Wednesday — a sharp turnaround from a year in which its stock price had otherwise been moving sideways.

The new valuation also increases Tesla CEO Elon Musk's net worth to some $300 billion, according to Forbes — increasing his net worth as the world's richest person by more than $30 billion.

Musk campaigned aggressively for Trump, who has signaled he intends to appoint the Tesla chief to a role tasked with increasing government "efficiency" that would cut programs deemed wasteful.

Through his rocket company SpaceX, Musk has been the beneficiary of billions in government contracts over the past decade. While Tesla has fewer direct contracts, it has been embroiled in multiple federal investigations and regulatory actions that could be dialed back once Trump takes office.

Tesla's 13-figure valuation puts it among the ranks of Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Google-parent Alphabet, Amazon and Facebook-parent Meta.

Tesla previously hit $1 trillion in 2021.

Demand for Tesla's electric vehicles has shown some signs of weakness in recent quarters, but Musk has said he is staking the automaker's future not on environmentally conscious drivers but rather on a future fleet of autonomous vehicles. On that front, the company now faces competition from Alphabet-owned Waymo, which has already been steadily rolling out "robotaxi" services in several markets.

Changed history.

Trying to solve pollution, traffic, and planetary demise.

Tesla alone would be an insane legacy, add in X, Space X, Nueralink, Skylink, The Boring Company and it becomes insane.

I know he is probably trolling about buying MSNBC, but man would that be awesome.  This man is a national treasure.

But I did just drive next to one of his Tesla trucks and it will have to grow on me.   :)

Truck is ugly as fuck. And some guy destroys one and shows how it's held together, it was pretty bad. I don't know if her was setting it up but it was assembled really bad.

That was my first impression too.  I'm trying to be open minded.  I think the knee jerk reaction to something so different is to reject it.

I've been encouraged to get a Tesla by some Tesla owners, but I've been avoiding them.  Maybe I'll go test drive the truck just to see what it's like.

Part of me wants to buy a Tesla just as a thank you to Musk for helping to save America.

The look on Reid, Maddow, O'Donnel and Hayes' face would be priceless.

The two people I know that drive Tesla cars say they are fine if you stay close to home. One guy drove to Vegas in the summer and had to stop 3 times to charge due to running the A/C, he said never again. I've heard some of the offroad community saying the weight is what kills the battery quickly.
On a side note, the guy I know that drives the Rivian absolutely loves it.

Drove a Tesla for the first time a couple days ago.  Was fun as anything.  Very cool.

The long trip thing is a concern.  Being able to fully charge in 30 min is cool if you go to the right station.  Having to wait 8 hours is not.

Cybertruck is odd looking but I love seeing them.
