I know a lot of people like to go do gear in Thailand - but visas are a pain - and you have to report to immigration every 90 days (or send a proxy to do it).
But now there's an "LTR Visa" - Long Term Resident.
- 10 year visa - but you have to go back for a chat after 5 years
- Report to immigration every year
- No taxes on money you bring in (which is a pretty fucking good benefit)
- Costs $1,500
- Needs a 20 min visit to Silom Area (BOI office)
- Fast Track service at the airports
- can get a work permit without the need to employ 4 Thais
The only thing I had to show was proof of "passive" income (as I'm officially retired) and proof of life insurance.
It's a good deal IMO - especially for those extra long 10 year cycles that they all seem to be on in Pattaya.
