Yeah I know. I think they have done comparative studies on general knowledge and I think nordic countries have done pretty well. Americans often probably see the US as the whole world and don't concern themselves with the rest, and often aren't interested in US happenings either. Here the situation is the reverse, we care more about US developments than Swedish ones. A while back I heard on the radio Somalians complaining why news from Somalia weren't reported daily here lol. Who cares about Somalia?

Yes though I wonder how much indoctrination there used to be. I know we were told socialism and democracy were the best system, no discussion. It was a fact. Hitler worst person in history, fact. I doubt there's been much nuance ever, except perhaps in higher education. So most people were socialists and some were outright communists. Most old people remember the 70s and 80s very fondly, not much immigration either.

Yeah I remember we talked about the classifications, there can be leftist/right wing elements in all types of governments. National Socialist German Workers Party. Trump is extreme right wing, an actual dictator according to some. I don't dismiss that pejorative altogether though, people often actually crave a dictator who sets things right, and Trump said he wished he could initially be a dictator for a day or two. Trump also said he wishes he had generals like Hitler did. Although not recorded I have no doubt he said it, would very much be in his character. I don't remember who it was but the person he told it to said, Mr President, you can never say in public anything that could be construed as positive about Hitler or that regime

They detested the upper classes and people who lived in extravagance.

Same with the Fascists, not against people having wealth itself, but those showing off and living in excessive luxury were considered degenerates and at worst parasites.

People calling Trump 'fascist' are absolutely clueless because it would be completely unacceptable for the leaders or party members to live in such levels of wealth.
