Social media has made it "cool" to be part of the alphabet community. Any person that doesn't fit in, gets bullied, masculine girls or feminine men are told repeatedly that they are gender confused and are part of the alphabet community. In reality being different doesn't immediately make a person some alphabet weirdo. The other aspect that has been discussed is that that community is "protected" with special laws and punishments so anyone that identifies as one of these freaks can claim that they are being singled out because of their faggotry and not just because they are an asshole.

When my younger three (triplets) were in HS, a teacher asked my daughter's class to raise their hands if they were not on social media.  My daughter was the only one to raise a hand.  Her teacher was over the moon, kvelling.

I have grandkids on SM.  Their parents don't know any better, and I can't do anything about it.
