Anyone one familiar with this “ABS (Automated Balls/Strikes) system where a batter, pitcher or catcher can challenge the home plate umpire’s call? I follow an account on IG called “Umpire Auditor” where he shows game replays of all of the bad calls by umpires from games of the week.

My suggestion has been to take the ump from behind the plate and put him in back of the pitcher to call the game. Of course it would require the umpires to be in good shape to get out of the way infield plays but I think it would work.

However, this ABS system seems great. Any thoughts? Grape Ape..this is your wheelhouse

They will never put the Ump behind the pitcher because he would get in the way. I'm surprised they don't use a computer to actually call balls and strikes. During games now they put up a box on the TV and you can see exactly what the call should be. Also surprised the NFL and college football are still using chains on the sideline and the referee just puts the ball where he thinks it should be by vision only.

Not a fan. When it comes to baseball I’m a purist. The replay for base running I’m ok, but balls and strikes, nope

I watch a lot of MLB games and the strike zone varies greatly between umpires.

Some of these guys are terrible.
