Probably because of taxes. Blue states have to pay more to support the broke ass red states who are also at the top of the list for poverty. Red states receive more than they pay in. Somebody has to pay for SNAP benefits that the majority of participants- who are white and in red states - can’t afford.
Is that why blue states are loaded with homelessness, drugs, violence, high taxes, high cost of living, etc?
Dems are so smart...

Below is a summary based on available information:
U.S. News & World Report (2024): California ranks 37th overall for Pre-K-12 education, based on factors like high school graduation rates, college readiness, preschool enrollment, and academic performance. This places it among the bottom third of states, behind states like Massachusetts (1st), New Jersey, and Connecticut.
WalletHub (2024): California ranks 29th overall for education, with an 8th-place ranking for quality of education but a lower 37th for educational attainment. It struggles with metrics like pupil-to-teacher ratio (51st) but performs better in areas like low rates of threatened/injured high school students.
Scholaroo (2023): California ranks 44th for K-12 public school systems, evaluated on student success, school quality, and safety. This places it just above states like New Mexico and Alaska, with challenges attributed to socioeconomic diversity and English language learner needs.
Education Week (2021): California ranked 36th in per-student spending (adjusted for cost of living) at $11,269, below the national average. It scored high (A-) for funding equity due to the Local Control Funding Formula but received a D for overall spending, dragging down its ranking.
National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP): California students score lower than peers in many states on standardized tests, particularly in reading and math. Its 2022 and 2024 NAEP rankings improved slightly, but this was partly because other states performed worse, not due to significant gains
No poverty in blue states for sure...

California’s poverty rate, at 17.7%, continued to be the highest (alongside Louisiana) in the United States in 2024, with no tangible improvement from 2023.
Worlds 4th largest economy!!!
