Question for Chic re: Louis Dorman
« on: May 08, 2006, 05:43:11 PM »
I've seen you two hang around the BB.com booth at the SF Pro getting all buddy buddy. Just wondering what your take is on the claims that all his pictures are photoshopped?

So I take it you stand by him in regards to his photos not being chopped? Louis is a nice guy, he trains at my gym and lives near my house, but some of the evidence the bb.com members presented is pretty irrifutable.

So if you think they're wrong, you should correct them because Louis is really getting slammed over there.  :o

If were talking "photoshopped" in the sense that touch-ups are done for ad purposes...then yes, I'm sure they are to an extent, as are 99.9% of pics used for ads...not just in BB, but almost ALL publications.

It's as common a practice asit gets....blemishes, line enhancement, evening out skin tones, wrinkles in clothes, etc, etc.

Lets not take away from what this kid accomplished...the photo's werent photoshopped to fool anyone, or to exaggerate his incredible weight transformation...you're talking about losing over 100 lbs.

Lets keep things in perspective....

You're absolutely right Bob, I do agree with you. And there is no doubt he accomplished an amazing feat. I mean, damn, anyone who can lose 150 pounds gets major props in my book. I actually know Louis, he lives in my neighborhood and works out at my gym. He's a really nice guy and I like his personality a lot. But it seems that more than one photo has been chopped, and not just for the bb.com ads, but for his own separate website as well. Surely the graphic designers for bb.com didn't do that as well.

Here's Ryan DeLuca himself admitting the photo was chopped:

Quote
Hello,

I've noticed some of these threads about Louis recently and I've seen the different versions of the photos. I'm personally trying to get to the bottom of this.

The first thing I want to say is that with either photo, Louis made an unbelievable transformation. To me, it is one of the best transformations ever to hit this industry. He not only changed his body but his entire life. I've had the pleasure of talking with Louis quite a bit and he is an amazing person and deserves all the credit he has gotten over the last few years.

Second, I noticed in his original thread that he posted here years ago that he posted this:

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpo...&postcount=112

That is the original photo without any touching up. He posted the truth.

Before we started working with Louis, he posted this photo and others on the forum. We found him and asked him if we could feature his story in some of our ads. He did not contact us to make money from his transformation.

I have no idea where the Photoshopped photo came from. We contracted out the design of these ads to an advertising firm. They may have touched up the photo like they would with most model photos, not knowing how bad this could be for Louis in the future if discovered. We did not notice any difference in the photos and did not look closely since we had no reason to believe they would be changed or touched up.

I'll continue to try to find out what is going on and try to get in touch with the original graphic designers and give you all an update if I can find out more.

Regardless, let's keep in mind that Louis is a real person, with real emotions, who simply tries to help people change their bodies and their lives the way that he did. His story and his work has changed an amazing number of lives around the world for the better, and we should give him the benefit of the doubt until we know exactly what happened.
