blood work
« on: May 09, 2006, 07:16:24 AM »
i just had my liver and kidney levels checked.  the dr is concerned about my ALT and AST results.  they are near twice the normal range.  after researching the topic some more i found that my number is not really a major concern. the concerning levels are 50 times the normal range.  does anyone else out there get their blood checked and have been in this situation?  should i go off for a while or just wait for the rest of the battery of blood work is done?

Well first off your AST levels are going to be increased if you're doing any kind of weight training at all.  You are continually damaging muscle tissue and that will increase the AST levels in your blood.  Your doctor should know this, but sometimes general practitioners miss that kind of shit because excercise seems to be a rare action these days.  A sports doc would have spotted this immediately.  You're ALT levels will be elevated because of the gear.  So let your doc know you're on cycle.  He cant get you in trouble and it will explain the results to him.  Frankly all your results seem perfectly normal for someone who is working their ass off in the gym and on cycle.  Just let your doc know all the info so he doesnt misinterpret the results of your tests.

Squatter is right.

Those two readings will be high due to the excessive breakdown of muscle tissue.  If you weight train, you cannot avoid that.

Mine are always high, even when I was in the military and not really lifting as much as I do now.

Anytime there is constant breakdown of muscle you will have that.
