Nutrition vs. Training, Your Opinions?
« on: June 13, 2006, 10:46:18 AM »
In my reading, I've seen noted bodybuiders expressing opinions as to the relative importance of nutrition versus training.  What immediately comes to mind is a Robby Robinson quote where he states that achieving results in 90% nutrition, 10% training.  Others have expressed similar opinions.  (For purposes of my question, leave steroids out of the mix).  What is the consensus on the relative importance (% terms) of nutrition v. training?

I like to think that they are 2 seperate catagories....the nutrition has to be 100% and the training has to be 100%. otherwise i would say 50-50. either way both have to be equal because both are very important.

I'd say the ratio would like this: 50% nutrition, 40% Rest, 10% training. Without rest, you can forget about gains. Nutrition has to be quality, clean proteins, and fibrous carbs. However, without the rest you will never see the rewards of all your diet and hard work in the gym.

I would have to say it all depends on what your goals are in your training. If just training to gain a certain degree of size & maintaining it then I would put diet/training at a 50/50 ratio. If going for size then maybe a 75/25 ratio as anyone realises, you need to eat to gain size. All in all, they rely on each other, its the goals of the person that is the bigger factor.

i believe that you have to find a balance between nutrition, training and rest to maximize your potential... then the only limits are your genetics and you willingness (and budget) to use "supplements"
