Heracles...good luck...

As for Muscle Milk I think the big question is.."How Much were you taking in?"

Granted the fat content is very high but of course taken in moderation stuff is very good. You need to look at your overall fat intake. If you didnt lower it to compensate for the Muscle Milk then this may be the problem...

All the best

Cutting is easy, but good luck with it.

P.S 8L of water a day will curb your nighttime hunger.

Idid three shows before in my life, it was like 6 years ago though. Im 31 now..so i have more mature muscle...they say you peak at 35. So, Im going to take one more swing at it. Here is a pic of me flexing my quads before my fisrt show. I have no pics scanned of my 3rd show, where i placed 4th. I didnt place in my first show, but did in my second and third..

My trophies from the last two shows, the medal was from the first show where i didnt place..it was in the NGA, in Manhattan NY. Lots of tough competition. Ill try to post pics of the third show..I looked alot better. I overdieted and came in small..(I cut ALL my carbs! Yes I was a NEWB!) I stopped competing bc i was angry that all the other competitors (well most) were taking steroids..Now that Ive put on some good muscle in the last 5-6 years id like to get in great shape and take another swing at it. I  figure I live in the gym, why not make it worth while.

IM the second from the left..
I was hearbroken it didnt go by weight class, my first contest in the novice..They threw all the Novices one class..Ill try to scan the pics from my third show, i was like 20lbs heavier and even harder/better shape bc i started eating carbs..So as  you can see I know how to diet..its just stopping to eat alot of crap.. >:(  I let some dirtbag at the gym borrow the vid to my third show, he never gave it back an d moved.. im trying to locate a copy.

Looking good HERACLES,

From the (clothed) upper body pictures at the start of the thread I'd say you'll be competing quite a bit heavier this time around. Good work! Those arms look thick.

Just wondering though, how tall are you HERACLES?

I'm 5'5'' myself and have just dieted down from 225 to 205 lbs (good going for six weeks of dieting but a bout of pneumonia has sidetracked my progress somewhat), I reckon I might manage a competition weight of about 180 lbs but I'm not sure how much muscle I'll be able to hold.

I'd be very interested in knowing your weight and height in those competition photos, if you remember.

Thanks,
The Luke

THank you luke!!. :)

I am 5'8".
For the first show, when i cut all my carbs, I went down to 170- . Then the second show, I was 180 but soft and looked bad, Thirsd show, I dieted right, and learned my body, I was 180lbs and looked great!!  Im so mad- a guy at the gym borrowed that video, and moved and i never got it back..those are the best pics i have up there of my last show, my girl never got up close for some good pics.. >:(
Im trying to motivate myself. Im on a mission now, getbig.com has been great, just getting into a competitve state of mind.

225 is a great off season weight! Im 230 now, but I have alot of garbage around my midsection. Id love to get to 210-215 for a good offseason weight, and hopfully 190 will be low enough, maybe 185. Sucks falling in a middle weight class, because thats the toughes class IMHO...
Well see, hopefully Ill look ok to pull my own weight, my legs are pretty good too.. Im going to repos tpics beginning of June hopefully ill be 225... Im down to 230 now.
(235-238 in those pics)

I would say jus tkeep dieting, aim to get super conditioned, and just see where your weight falls bro! Its funny, when we tell folks we compete at 170-180, how damn impressive we look at that weight with no clothes on over 220-230 weight.  :D

HERACLES,

From the pics (now knowing you're 5'8'') I reckon you'd be closer to 190 lbs in shape so you should definitely consider competing: them's Lee Labrada proportions!!

Appreciate the advice regarding my recent bout of dieting, when I put my mind to it the weight shifted so easily I was furious I hadn't done it five years ago.

I've considered competing myself; always wanted to but never really had the self confidence. The only real obstacle I have now is an arm imbalance... I've built a thick back, torso and lower body, however my arm measurement is a paltry 16'' (cold). Not so bad for 5'5'' but coupled with 18'' calves and an 18(ish)'' neck they look pretty puny... my chest is about 43'' and that just swallows up those arms as soon as I lift them.

Just out of interest what's your arm? They compare very well in those pics.

Luke, I never measured any bodypart! .  You know what bro? Ive seen guys that look BIG back stage, pumping up, and I would feel intimidated, but they werent in the best shape- whe they step on stage, they lose it all! (the advantage) Since im natural, im def challenged musclarity wise, but getting into a contest IN SHAPE, and as DRY and low BF as you can, will gain the respect OF ALL THE JUDGES, and the crowd! NO one likes a competitor that might look "big" but is soft on stage..that is the ULTIMATE EMBARASSEMENT!- Ive noticed if your a smaller bodybuilder, but your in GREAT SHAPE, people will clap and cheer for you! Its just like the Arvilla chronicles..lol..Hes gonna do fine, bc hes in the best shape of his life.
Cardio cardio cardio...abs, abs abs...Hit a local Novice natty show, watch a few, and youll be set- youll kno wwhat you need to do..YOu can do it! I starved myself for that first show, but by the third, i remember hearing while i was up there a judge saying "He improved ALOT!" I did all my shows in the NGA/WNBF. That felt great.  :)

Just hit a novice class;  GO in the best shape of your life..thats wha tnatural bodybuiding is all about- the cool thing, COntest make you better and better..Its something with the rebound- you put on quality mass after starving yourself, and get better..Hope all this blaabing helps..

Good advice heracles.   Look forward to seeing you gettin up there again.

The Luke has some great measurements and should also put it on the line to see where hes at. ;)
