i wouldn't risk it either....but it has been proven that a attacker with a knife can close a distance of 21 feet and get you before you can draw a weapon in some cases....you have to consider that most police holster's are level 3....which means they are locking holsters, and require certain wrist movements to remove the weapon.

i teach these classes......i have investigated similar cases...trust me.....

MMA trainer Marco Jara was found murdered from three gunshots Thursday in Santa Cruz, a suburb of Rio de Janeiro, according to a report from Redo Globo TV.

Jara, who trained the likes of Marco Ruas and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, was heading with a friend to Parati, a city two hours outside Rio, to spend the holidays. Jara, 39, reportedly stopped his Land Rover to retrieve something from the trunk, and the vehicle was robbed by two men.

Jara reacted to the armed men, but could not get the gun, said Rio police. Jara’s friend was shot and thrown out of the car, while Jara was kidnapped by the gunmen. Jara’s body was found two hours later in his car, which was parked in front of the dangerous Favela do Sapo slum. Jara’s friend is in a local hospital recovering.

Jara’s full name was Marcos Adriano Albuquerque. He lived in Los Angeles for nearly 20 years and was instrumental along with Federico Lapenda in bringing vale tudo great Marco Ruas to the UFC in 1995. IVC promoter Sergio Batarelli named Jara among the best MMA trainers in the world. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt was one of the trainers responsible in assisting Croatian striker Cro Cop’s transition from K-1 to MMA. Jara was also said to have been hired by K-1 to train Mike Tyson for MMA.

i feel for his family, but the world is full of nutcases like this who think years of martial art training means they can take on a guy with a gun ( just read this thread)

Fedor is a bad dude no doubt, but FAR from the baddest man on the planet. He isn't the baddest man in his own country, or a lot of  other countries. 6 billion plus people out there,there is ALWAYS someone badder, you may never meet them or hear of them but they are out there. Fedor has the skills, mentality,coaching etc... to beat almost anybody, but not everybody. He will lose eventually, everybody does. Oh shut the fuck up. That's one of my favorites along with black people saying it's impossible for them to be racist. Let me tell you something, I have black, mexican, asian and persian friends and they are more racist then any white people I've known. There's nothing wrong with being proud of your nationality, history and culture (except if your white) but they literally believe everybody else is below them and that is what racism is. Saying asians are bad drivers isn't racist neither is saying blacks are lazy or loud and obnoxious for that matter those are stereotypes. I wish people in this fucking country would learn the difference. If you're black and you have anger towards white people I can try to understand especially looking at history even in the last 50 years but what's there excuse for hating mexicans so much? Why do persians hate blacks so much? Were they oppressed by the black man? Everybody sees color stop the denial.

It's got nothing to do with the way you were raised (ok it could) but I never had a conversation about race with my parents and there were never any racial slurs or jokes that I overheard or was told by my parents. I can say for me It's based on what I've experienced in the 33 years I've been alive. How can you honestly say you don't notice the color of somebody's skin? So you see every other feature of a person except the color of their skin and racial features? Are you going to tell me you are attracted to all women equally (my apologies if you're fag) and that you don't notice certain features that tend to belong to women of a certain race? Sorry but it doesn't make you a better person to claim you don't
see color just a liar.

nationality/religion... moreso religion. Pakistan is one of a few muslim nations where religion is a stronger source of identity than nationality.. not to say that we're not nationalistic however.

I've grown more race concious over time for whatever reason (I'm sure thats part because we care about race in america, and part because of the shock of being thrown into a foreign environment when I first came here as a teen), so thats why I keep refering to it in the past tense.
