Flex had impressive size in '99 and beautiful lines (maybe the best ever) but didn't have Coleman's freaky hardness.  That's the only reason I can think of why Wheeler didn't win.

Of course Flex also later admitted to using synthol during this time period, but he surely wasn't the only one playing that game.

If you looked at the clip again, you will see he had striations in his glutes--they just weren't deep.  Same went for his hams.

Anyone who watches the pre-judging or posedown in 1999 would never, ever say that Flex deserved to win that year. I have the video and it is amazing how good Ronnie really was that year. Unreal.

Ronnie was cut everwhere (much harder than flex who looked soft and puffy compared to Ronnie) had had width and thickness.

IF the pre-judging and posedown from the 99 O. were posted on youtube, showing how unreal Ronnie looked even flexing next to great competition like Flex and Chris, that 150 page Dorian vs Ronnie thead would have ended 149 pages ago! 

to me, Ronnie in 99 was that good.  He seemed to get tighter as the contest progressed. He hits a most muscular at the end of the posedown that has to been seen to be believed. He has cuts in his arms, delts and chest as usual, but his quads were cut so deep it looked totally freaky. Hopefully one day these sorts of clips will be available for all to see.

Agree on every point.  I have the tape of the '99 Olympia--just have to figure out how to get the video onto the computer..
