Can Cook turn it around?
« on: June 15, 2006, 09:00:04 AM »

the guy looked pretty good in his pro debut in 2005. But in 2006 he looked rather bad. Does anybody think he will make any dramitic improvements in the future?

Chris Cook is awesome, all he needs to do is come into a contest in shape which he hasnt been doing. Plus hes young, so hes got plenty of time. The muscle maturity will come....

He's got the longest torso in bbing today. It'll take years for him to fill out and probably 300+ lbs of him

yeah, cook can be a poor man's cutler in another 2-3 years.  he lost some hype/magic from his rookie year, but he can still qualify for the O in the future.

What's this "muscle maturity" business about really?  That's what you hear all the time about Cook.  He's even said it himself on more than one occasion.  Look at Phil Heath.  He's 26 and has loads of "muscle maturity" in the way of cuts, striations, details, etc.  I think by age 30 or thereabouts, what you get is what you got.

cook has stated that his goal now is to get huge as shit at the risk of losing his "marketability" b/c his placings have been so crap. but to answer the original question ...no.

Chris Cook has barely gotten his feet wet on a pro stage. All he needs to do is thicken his upper chest, and improve his back. Give the man some time. As he is now, he's still taller and wider than most. Once he fills out, and he will at that, he'll be more competitve. I wish him all the best.

His pro-qualifying win at the Nationals was so dubious that the audience howled in protest.

He's got more to prove than I think he may be capable of proving.
