Fighter arrested in Barstow after steroids found in package
Associated Press
BARSTOW, Calif. - A professional cage fighter was arrested for investigation of illegal transport and sale of drugs after a package containing performance-enhancing steroids was delivered to a motorcycle shop where he works, police said Thursday.

Buckley Acosta, 27, of Newberry Springs was booked on Tuesday and held on $15,000 bail, police said.

The San Bernardino County district attorney's office was reviewing the case Thursday to decide whether to file criminal charges, spokeswoman Susan Mickey said.

The package was shipped from Central America and addressed to a local business address. It was intercepted and opened by customs officials because it lacked proper accompanying documents, police Sgt. Mark Franey said.

Federal authorities found 12 pre-loaded syringes inside the package, he said.

Barstow police arranged to have a postal inspector deliver the package while a detective posing as a customer watched.

Franey said Acosta was arrested for investigation of sales because of the amount of steroids in the package, although it wasn't clear whether it was intended to be sold or kept for personal use.

The shop's owners and managers apparently were unaware of the delivery, police said.

Acosta had no known medical problems and no prescription for the steroids, Franey said.

Acosta's most recent fight took place July 1 at "Madness at the Memorial" at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, where he won the bout in the first 47 seconds.

It seems stupid to suspect him of intent to sell w/ only 12 pre-loads.

He has never fought in the UFC, why do you say "UFC fighter" in the topic?
