Thanks Guys!!

You want to lose 50 POUNDS in 3 MONTHS???  That's borderline impossible - yet not entirely impossible.  But you're most definitely going to lose muscle mass with it.  You're going to have to drastically cut your daily caloric intake and probably reduce your carb intake by 100%.  Go for about 60% of your calories from (mostly) healthy fats, 30% from lean protein (meat & eggs - not powder) and 10% from carbs (fiber doesn't count - load up on it all you want).

So if you're shooting for 1,800 calories per day - here's what that'll look like:

120 grams of (mostly) healthy fats per day
135 grams of protein per day
45 grams of carbs per day

Many people will try to tell you that when you reduce carbs, you should replace them with protein.  That's DEAD WRONG!  When you eat carbs your body runs on carbs...  So when you replace carbs with something else, your body will run on that instead...  When you want to burn FAT FAST - you want your body to run on FAT...  NOT PROTEIN...  If you were to consume all of your calories from protein, your body will adapt and begin converting every gram of protein you eat into glucose for use as fuel - the opposite of what you want.

Example of a daily meal plan:

Meal #1: Eggs (whole) & Turkey Bacon - maybe a slice of low-carb/whole grain toast with Smart balance spread.  NO JUICE!!!
Meal #2: 2-4 Sticks of String Cheese
Meal #3: Salad with grilled chicken breast & olive oil dressing (don't skimp on the dressing!).  NO CROUTONS!!!
Meal #4: 2-4 Sticks of String Cheese - you can also wrap a slice of smoked turkey breast around 1 or 2 to make if more filling.
Meal #5: 4 oz. Filet with broccoli and small salad with olive oil dressing.

Supplement your calories with 1-3 Tbsp of Flax Oil, Fish Oil or Udo's Choice oil.  Always save room (in your daily calories) for at least one Tbsp of healthy fats.

After you've reached your goal, DO NOT just go back to eating carbs like you've always done.  Rebound weight gain will be a major concern.  You've got to slowly start eating carbs again.  Each week add about 10-20 grams per day (replacing fat calories with carb calories).

As far as a good workout routine...  Any solid program will do.  You sound like a newby, so I'd recommend the Body-for-Life training program.  It's a decent combo of weights & cardio for beginners.

Best of luck...  You're going to need it!

50 pounds in three months is possible! Follow the diet plan Puerto offered you and here is what you need to do:

Upon waiking up go for a 1 hour jog. (before eating anything)

Go to gym and try for 2 hours high intensity. Lots of sets and rest time down to 30 seconds.

Before going to sleep do another 1 hour cardio session.

I really doubt that you will actually try this. I know fat people are lazy and want everything handed to them. So I typed all that up just for when you are going to be making excuses in the future for still looking like garbage. You will look back on this and think to yourself, what if...
just push some weight!

Damn dude thats cold.  I'm really not that heavy.  I'm 5'11" 225lbs.

I've been lifting on and off for 2 years so I am pretty solid.  I just think its time to stop bullshiting and get serious.

Thanks for the reply anyway.

i have dropped 40-45 lbs in 12 weeks dieting for a show...it is also entirely possible to still gain muscle while you are shedding bodyfat...but i will have alot to do with what your diet and training programs look like....also if you are natural or not.

i have no idea why alexxx and some of these other guys on this board are obsseded with these marathon 2-3hour training sessions with endless reps and sets.

the best advice i could give you is not to do it....you can make some minimal gains training like that but thats where it ends....there is no reason in the world to spend 2 hours training...and if you are training 2 hours it is not intense and you dont know what intense really is....there is a big difference between muscle endurance and training for size or strenght.

This is a great plan whitehulk drew up.  One I follow myself almost to a tee.  When you reach your goal and you start to consume carbs again you will gain back a little weight.  Carbs attach to water, I believe for every 1 gram of carb 3 grams of water attach so you will gain back water weight.  You can easily see this by eating low carbs for a week and then eating high carbs for just one day.  Your weight will increase by up to 5 pounds, but it's all water.

But once you start eating carbs again, don't get down on yourself for gaining a little back, but do keep an eye on the scale, because anything beyond 5ish pounds and you are starting to yo-yo.

I would also recommend exercising lightly while your dieting.  You can easily lose the weight by dieting alone if you follow the hulk's advice and your energy levels won't be that high.  Then when you hit your goal you can increase the exercise and this will allow for you to eat a little more without gaining weight.

wow...i dont have a clue where some of you guys get this stuff...no diss...but it doesnt make any sense.

why shoud he exercise lightly while dieting?

and with the diet listed above you will lose plenty of weight...including plenty of muscle tissue.

he should train and diet to change his body composition...train to gain lean muscle tissue and lose body fat at the same time.

the body adapts quickly to exercise, so concentrate on diet first.

Try losing weight by exercising alone and then try losing weight by dieting alone and tell me which one is faster and easier.  Exercising and dieting together only increases weight loss by a small fraction over dieting alone.

If you haven't been exercising or eating right for years then it's easier to lose the weight by dieting and then start exercising hard once your near your goal weight.  Plus someone who is 50+ pounds overweight has a hard time exercising until they drop some weight.

And I said to exercise lightly at first and build it up.  Guys like you would take a 50+ pound overweight sedetary person and have them doing your workout their first day in the gym and wonder why they quit after a week.

first of all we are not talking about a guy who is not active and 50lbs overweight...he stated that he has been training for a few years and is 5'11 225 and pretty solid....his protein intake shoud be atleast 1g-1.5g per pound of bodyweight.....

we also dont know if he is "on" or not which would call for a even higher protein intake because of the increased protein synthesis of aas... but either way for someone to recommend his protein intake at 135 is way off base.

as for protein getting converted to glucose through glucogenisis, in theory that is true but it is also a very inefficient process especially for someone with an avtive lifestyle...at min he should be at that 1g per pound...it is always better to overeat protein...the benefits far outweigh the negatives.

some people get so focused on losing weight by hitting a certain number on the scale, caloric deficits, ect...when the number one goal should be to build lean muscle tissue through weight training and eating ... the lower body fat percentage will come.

Thanks for all your opinions!

Yea I've been training on and off because I always lose motivation for some reason.  I'n not on although I've been very tempted.  Today is my second day using Lipo 6.  It's pretty good for pumps.  I also got some GNC whey isolate.  I drink a shake when around 9am (2 scoops) and one post workout with a banana.  I;m doing an hour of cardio and an hour of training.  I try to hit 12 sets for each body part at least once a week.  Chest and arms I do twice a week.

I will buy some flaxseed oil and Glutamine.

Are you taking any fat burners at all? What is your water intake? You training and cardio is on par as long as your cardio is being done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. 40 min is optimal, no need for overkill, you say an hour at the gym...to me your intensity should be right on point.

If all else fails....I just got 1 word for ya.....clen....but that's my 2 cents.

Not familiar with the LIPO 6, but as far as the ECA stack, try taking it 2 times a day, once with breakfast and around 1-2 in the afternoon for your second dose. Water intake looks fine...can I ask why you do 1 light week and 1 heavy week? Just curious. Your 1hr cardio is first thing in the morning I'm guessing, right?

I'll argue with it though!  First off, 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of BODYWEIGHT is WAY WRONG!  If anything, it "might" be 1 gram of protein per pound of LEAN BODY MASS.  So, since he weighs 225 and needs to lose 50, 175 grams of protein is the absolute most he "needs".

And with the program I outlined, by getting the majority of your calories from fat, your body will actually use fat for fuel - which in turn will spare muscle protein.

I want to lose 50 lbs by January 1st if possible.  Can someone post a good diet and gym routine for me?

Thanks Guys!!

i don't know how big u are but i'm guessing ur big... and in my opinion u need simple junkfood diet with simple lazy workouts!  ;D i understand u! i use to be that person! didn't wanna workout but wanna lose weight! and my weapon was food and vitamins!

first thing i did was do something religiously for 30days like everybody says 2 get motivated!  ;) so i choosed to eat same food for 30days!!!

breakfast: Musclemilk and 6eggwhites
before lunch: muscle milk
lunch: muscle milk
b4 dinner: muscle milk
dinner: 6eggs whites and muscle milk
b4 bed: muscle milk
when  hungry?: muscle milk!
all muscle milk shaken with soymilk!
and i took vitamins through out the day: centrum, flaxseed, fishooil, vitamin E,C,B12

and once in a while i'd eat out but i'd stick with muscle milk most of the time!!!
now many people might disagree with this diet but remember this diet is not no bodybuilding contest diet. lol this is more like busy single bachelor who don't cook and gotta lose 50 pounds in 2month and i'd do anything for it diet! know what i mean? so, try it or goodluck dude! but it definitely worked for me.

i almost forgot about cardio! ok, for that all u do is jog for 10-20 mins perday but everyday!!! if u can especially in the morning when u wakeup after drinking a tall glass of water and follow the plan above! in the morning is the best time to burn off fat!!! (nitrogen level is super low!!!) if u want u can goto GNC and pick up few nitrogen level checker things! so u know exactly when to do cardio! ;)

Whats up guys!  I dropped 5 lbs already and I've been hitting it hard.  I have taken all your post into consideration.  I thing the hardest part is staying motovated because sometimes you bust ur ass in the gym and then you weigh yourself and you are the same weight.  There is never a quick fix though.

Anyone in the NYC area?
