I want to lose 50 lbs by January 1st if possible. Can someone post a good diet and gym routine for me?
Thanks Guys!!
You want to lose 50 POUNDS in 3 MONTHS??? That's borderline impossible - yet not entirely impossible. But you're most definitely going to lose muscle mass with it. You're going to have to drastically cut your daily caloric intake and probably reduce your carb intake by 100%. Go for about 60% of your calories from (mostly) healthy fats, 30% from lean protein (meat & eggs - not powder) and 10% from carbs (fiber doesn't count - load up on it all you want).
So if you're shooting for 1,800 calories per day - here's what that'll look like:
120 grams of (mostly) healthy fats per day
135 grams of protein per day
45 grams of carbs per day
Many people will try to tell you that when you reduce carbs, you should replace them with protein. That's DEAD WRONG! When you eat carbs your body runs on carbs... So when you replace carbs with something else, your body will run on that instead... When you want to burn FAT FAST - you want your body to run on FAT... NOT PROTEIN... If you were to consume all of your calories from protein, your body will adapt and begin converting every gram of protein you eat into glucose for use as fuel - the opposite of what you want.
Example of a daily meal plan:
Meal #1: Eggs (whole) & Turkey Bacon - maybe a slice of low-carb/whole grain toast with Smart balance spread. NO JUICE!!!
Meal #2: 2-4 Sticks of String Cheese
Meal #3: Salad with grilled chicken breast & olive oil dressing (don't skimp on the dressing!). NO CROUTONS!!!
Meal #4: 2-4 Sticks of String Cheese - you can also wrap a slice of smoked turkey breast around 1 or 2 to make if more filling.
Meal #5: 4 oz. Filet with broccoli and small salad with olive oil dressing.
Supplement your calories with 1-3 Tbsp of Flax Oil, Fish Oil or Udo's Choice oil. Always save room (in your daily calories) for at least one Tbsp of healthy fats.
After you've reached your goal, DO NOT just go back to eating carbs like you've always done. Rebound weight gain will be a major concern. You've got to slowly start eating carbs again. Each week add about 10-20 grams per day (replacing fat calories with carb calories).
As far as a good workout routine... Any solid program will do. You sound like a newby, so I'd recommend the Body-for-Life training program. It's a decent combo of weights & cardio for beginners.
Best of luck... You're going to need it!
