Subliminals are everywhere.

There's an old movie shot in Montreal starring Lee Majors, Robert Mitchum and Valerie Perrine called "Agency" that deals with this. It might be hard to get on DVD, but it's worth a peek if you can find it. Not so much for the performances, but simply for the storyline itself. Some very interesting parallels.

Movie taglines: Mind control through TV. It can't happen here... or can it?
Someone wants to control your mind, ...and they're using your TV to do it.

Plot summary: A mysterious millionaire buys an ad agency and begins to replace its employees with his own people, who don't appear to be advertising types at all. A copywriter begins to suspect that the man isn't interested in selling products as much as he is in inserting his own sinister political beliefs into the commercials the agency runs on TV in order to subliminally brainwash an unsuspecting public into supporting the causes and candidates he wants them to. When the copywriter confides his suspicions to a friend and soon afterwards is mysteriously killed, his friend begins his own investigation.

Of course that movie was made 26 years ago and most who first saw it live in the United States of Amnesia.

hmmmm... remind you of anyone?  nah... couldn't be. could it?  :P
