Didn't Gunter do a Perdue chicken commercial? And he's in Beerfest and signed for another movie with Broken Lizard I believe. If he can be marketed so can Jay.

Ummm Are you kidding me?

No mainstream company is going to touch Jay.  He isn't sexy enough to sell anything to the mainstream.  In fact the only people he could sell to are harcore Bodybuilding fans and horny old grandmas.

His physique is that of a refrigerator.  I was at a show where he guest posed, and many of the non bodybuilding audience were thouroughly disgusted by his look.

He also lacks charisma and charm (just like Ronnie)

Again if Bodybuilding was going in a different direction....He is just not it.

Exactly.  Mainstream companies would not touch any pro bber.  Most people in the mainstream media associate bbing with drug use.  The first thing a "regular" person sees when they see a pro bodybuilder is "he takes steroids".  BBing will always remain a cult sport.

Being mainstream means becoming very close to a household name. Getting 5-10 second gigs here and there does not justify being mainstream. Once you hear Gunther's, Chick's, Jay's..etc name being used then you know that person has reached the mass market.
Unless the person decides to walk away from competative bodybuilding and "clean" himself out and drop a few pounds it's not happening.
The Rock was told to lose 40 pounds before he even gets close to a movie screen and he was already a household name in the WWE.

One of the reasons you see a big bodybuilder in a commercial, TV show or movie is because it's angles as a freak show. Let's not forget when Ronnie was on Jay Leno and raced stuttering John on the beach. How insulting was that?

YES! He's reliable, smart, motivated. He'd be extremely valuable. No one negative thing bout the guy.
Smart in the world of bodybuilding.  What would Bill Gates be then?  Then again, an IQ over 100 would be considered smart, so I guess so.  Don't forget a great role model to the high school kids aspiring for a honest career.  The best is when Cutler gave the seminar at a high school.  Probably the most assbackwards thing I've ever seen.  Guys on more drugs than a cancer patient.  Oh brother. ::)

Great points.

Funny, cause the Rock is a big dude in his own right, but he's not "bbing" big.

About Ronnie, according to his "'nut-huggers" his apperance on Leno was a good thing..... ::)

MetRx has taken it's company to the masses and yet signs Dexter Jackson which still hasn't really appeared in many MetRx print ads. Why? Davana Medina was also a MetRx athlete and we hardly saw her in print ads.The same is going to happen with Phil Heath.

Gunter also happens to be 6000 times more good looking than Jay.

Spot on. The only time a BB is ever used in a mainstream commercial it is to promote some weird or freak angle.

Pro BB will never be mainstream or have mass appeal because it is far to extreme. 99.9% of people cannot identify, look up to or relate to any pro BB. Why should a mainstream company which wants to attract the mainstram audience hire/sponser somebody like that.

Like it or not when the man on the street sees Jay, Ronnie, et al all they see are..........Steroids.

Sad but true.

Pro BB used to have mass appeal.  They used to show it on ABC Wide World of Sports and then after that ESPN, but what happened?  The physiques got more grotesque and ridiculous, and hte advertisers realized that it was pointless...no one is watching that crap except for a small segment of the population.

no, to pursue different roles. i watched him in an interview saying he was tired of playing the bigg mean guy.....that he was interested in more acting range.         and since he is no longer massive,,,   there sprouts an opening in hollywood for mr. coleman, quincy taylor, tony freeman, and plenty others.....

theres so many available roles its crazy. they could do commercials for a new "king size" candy bar... and be like "its sooo big, even i cant finish it!!!" , or they could play an all star lineman  in moviies about football, or they could be an like an egyption king(they werent muscular, but im sure the public would react well to a bodybuilder playing a pharoa)...the possibilities are endless, you just have to market them.

its easy.

If you owned a product/supplement company would you sign Cutler to endorse your product/company and why? If not, who would you sign and why?

No.

I would sign the best natural bodybuilders or track and fielders in the world.

I would never risk getting the bad PR of having any contracted athletes being tested positive for steroids, or in other ways associated with them.

I would definitely have anti-doping clauses in the contract, to prevent from getting any kind of PR crisis.

Even have some clause that would make the athlete have to participate in any doping tests conducted and paid by the company.

All to prevent from PR crisis such as the Balco affair.

Mainstream no, but bodybuilders attract a HELL of alot of attention as long as its not Venice beach.  Im by NO means big at all, and when i wear a tank top in public i get tons of attention n stupid comments by all different types and kinds of people.  Imagine someone Cutlers size walking out into a highly populated area for one reason or another.  Thatl attract a SHITLOAD of attention.  People are mezmorized by seeing shit they dont see every day.  They might not want to look like that themselves, but they are intrigued.  Im sure that has money making potential, somebody just has to figure out how to use it...
