Rumble on the Rocks is going BigTime
« on: November 08, 2006, 09:45:04 PM »
ROTR is going big time.  Showtime just picked them up.  Long Term deal and fights all over the place.  Going to give Hawaii some good exposure.  Also, Guam, Korea and other places.  Should be really good.

Excellent news.  They put on good fights.

Their welterweight tournament featured some of the best fighters around.  Carlos Condit, Jake Shields, Frank Trigg, Anderson Silva, Yushin Okami, Kazuhiro Yamanaka, Charuto Verrisimo to name a few.  Silva has since beaten Rich Franklin, Condit and Shields are both ready for the big time, and Okami and Yamanaka are studs.  Charuto beat Gil Castillo, should have defeated Hughes in a controversial decision, and tooled Carlos Newton.  I hope this goes well, competition always improves the breed.

They are doing 18 fights in 12 months for 3 years.  Going to be good.  Even looking in Europe for locations.  Going to be recruiting some good guys

Rumble on the rock is owned and operated by Bj Penn's brother so you know he's going to use his pull to get big name fighters like they always do.

JD is hella cool.  They get a lot of good fighters who are under the radar.  The Penn/Gomi fight was one of the best fights I have ever seen.  No one except the afficianados had heard of Gomi at the time, and Penn punked him.

I am a big fan of Jake Shields.  I got to roll with him a few months ago.  He is a cool guy.  Gilbert Melendez might be coming to Oklahoma soon to do a seminar.

He has said this a few times, nonetheless, he has sick jits.  Very slick on the ground.  I have fallen victim to the triangle before.
