Any ideas on this? Anti-depressants and running cycles...
« on: January 11, 2007, 07:53:39 PM »
I have talked about  this before so this may be a little redundant to some of you, but do any of you in here take anti-depressants..such as prozac, paxil, of zoloft... and i dont mean taking them as a result of steroid use

i have taken prozac for several years and it helps me big-time. When I dont take it, I get moody and irritable as hell. That said, I have always stopped taking the prozac while during cycles for fear that it would inhibit gains (maybe interfere with the steroids).

However, as an experiment, I am going to continue my daily dosage of prozac along with the cycle I will be starting soon. I dont think the prozac should affect the anabolics, given that the prozac deals with serotonin and norepineferine re-uptake in the brain and the anabolics deal with tissue.

Any thoughts?

You can use them together, no problem. I asked this from my doc a year ago and she said itīs ok. I think itīs actually a good move to do. BTW yes i have done it and even drugdigest didnīt find any interactions.

i was more concerned that the anti-depression meds would make the gear less effective. Thanks alot for the feedback though. Thats just what I was looking for.

See: my last tcycle, I came off the prozac and then after a few weeks (just long enough for prozac to be out of system) I started getting mean and moody as hell. I was always wondering if it was the gear or the lack of prozac that made me moody and irritable. It was the same kind of irritability that I experience when I misss a few doses of prozac.

Therefore, I agree with you that its a good idea to run the cycle with the normal dose of anti-depressant, especially since the anti-depressants also tend to function as mood stabilizers.

Thanks alot bro, good call.

If it were me (and it's not, and I'm not giving anybody advice per se here), I'd stay on my normal dose of anti-depressants, and monitor my mood carefully.

Also, can I ask (about your last cycle), were you on any AI's at the time you got moody?

I use to always run Airimidex at about .5 eOd, however, on the last cycle, i cut out the airimidex at about the 7th week because I wanted to see if the lack of estrogen was inhibiting my gains. I was at a standstill. Subsequently, I started making gains fast after cutting the A-dex. Now, this is a complex situation because the surge in "gains" could have been water, but I ended up gaining 12 more pounds (after week 7) by the end of the 20 week cycle. Anything over 6-7 lbs on me is usually solid gains. Therefore, i dont think it was just water.

Answer to your question: I seriously think the irritability and snappy demeanor was a result of me coming off the prozac. But you may be on to something else in this situation. Its good to have you in here bro.
