In the afternoon, he was back at Gold's ONLY for that photoshoot, with his girlfriend at the time that happened to be his first wife, before Cha (Maxrep, help me here, what was her name?) and FYI, no, those are not fake plastic weights, they were the real deal.

His first wife's name was Cheryl.  She was a pretty blond but a bit thick.  I might have an old M&F issue with some wedding shots inside.  I miss those Bill Reynolds photo spreads, too, (hardcore/real stuff).

Max rep, Julie was SOOOOOOOOOOO FREAKING HOT!!! I didn't know she was MM's girl at the time. That should be before Cathy Gelfo, shouldn't it? Damn, I became even more of a fan of Mentzer than I was before, if that's possible!

I think onlyme got it right with Tom's first wife's name being Cheryl. I know in 1980 his fiance was having an affair with his training partner Eric Sternlick(sp) who wrote some nutrition articles for all the magazines. In 1981 he started training with his cousin also named Tom.

As far as Mike and Julie they were dating in 1983-4 when Ray bought Muscle Mill in Redondo Beach. I remember well because we all hung out together often. I can't really tell you much about their relationship. I was too busy to keep tabs. I was working in the clubs, training and f*cking every girl within 10 feet. You can't work in the nightclubs and not taste the goods. I don't know how I had the energy. Testosterone made me such a whore. 

Ray was on a rampage because he and Rachel wwre done and she was with Matt Mendenhall.

Tom Platz and the Mentzers were my favorite bodybuilders, true warriors in the gym. I collect every mag and video/DVD I can get my hands on on the subject of Platz and Mentzer. Those stories are priceless.

The Platz's fiancee that you mentioned about cheating on him wasn't Cheryl, was she? Why did they went splitsville? Nowadays, Tom is married to a fooking ugly oriental woman.... Cheryl was beautiful.....I have the M&F that covers Platz's wedding with her. Arnold was one of his best men.

I've thrown many of those stories around this board for years now. It usually takes something like this thread to trigger my aging memory. I'm sure most people on here are bored to tears from my stories by now. Tuff luck for them!

The articles were WAY better written than now and the shots were more realistic too...
