it feels as if I got hit in the chest with a baseball.
this is where it hurts and it's a constant deep pain, middle is difficult to flex the rest is fine. ( i'm guessing bruising) shit!
Do NOT try to flex it. Let it rest. It sounds like a SPASM. The
fibers are locked up in order to PROHIBIT any further movement. To reduce the pain, apply ice for 20 minutes. This should reduce the swelling. Do this several times. 20 minutes on,20 minutes off. (No heat yet. That'll come later.) Then wrap your entire chest with a compression bandage. In a pinch, you can also use Saran Wrap. Take 2 ibuprofen with 8 oz. of water, and go to sleep in a more
propped up position than usual, to control swelling. Spasms take about 3 days to naturally release themselves. Arnica cream will help immensely. Whatever you do, do NOT over-stretch the area again. Do NOT pull the pec AWAY from the bone. You already did that, and I believe you went too far. Now you
must let the pec reestablish its position ON the bone. Let nature take its course. Trust your body. Rest, and recovery will ensue.
