Now I Understand Those Gym Stories
« on: February 03, 2007, 06:07:45 PM »
I am at the gym today.  This guy is benching 275 for 8 solid reps.  This guy comes to his bench.  He is mid 30's, receding hairline, bald spot on top.  He is 145 pounds tops, absolute tops.  He has on a skin tight black Under Armour shirt and way too big black wind pants.  Without asking he strips plates off the big guys bar and has 135 on there now.  Mr. Bald Under Armour then lays on the bench, throws his feet way in the air and crosses them.  He then proceeds to bench this weight exactly halfway down to his chest, pauses it and pushes it up.  He does this for a massive 5 reps.  Ummmm wtf was that?

He should have pressed the barbel down to the geek's chest and say "That's how it should be done, mate," and insist that he does a proper 10 reps, with good technique. When he gets exhausted, you just keep pushing him beyond his limits, and when he finally gets the 10 reps with good form, you give him a thumbs up and say "Now you have done a solid bench press, mate, you should be proud of yourself," when he manage to walk away with his legs shaking, ha ha.  :D

hahaha whenever someone asks me for a spot I don't help him until he does one proper bench press or at least goes all the way down.
