lottery phone scams!!! i'm freaked out!!!

yesterday i got a call from some guy claiming to be with a national sweepstakes and he told me i won 2nd prize in a lottery. out of curiousity, i called this guy, and he told me to secure my winnings i had to forward 500 bucks to some guy in jamaica, and he would open an account for me. the guy had my name, address, phone #, and cell phone #.  i went to the cops, but they didn't seem too worried about it. he called 2 more times after the cops tried to get info out of him. i 'm thinking of going to the fbi if he persists. am i overreacting? has this happened to anyone else before? i'm kinda freaked out! HE KNOWS ALOT ABOUT ME!

No, call the cops. This is how you get your identity stolen. You might be able to help some people get there informatin back.

I got rid of my home phone altogether over a year ago... Ohhhhh the perfection of it... took it out into the street and did a printer from Office Space scene on the phone... Total joy ever since

The cops really won't do anything.  You should contact the National Fraud Info people, or the Better Business Bureau.  They usually take care of those kinds of phone/internet sweepstakes frauds.

i was told i won 2.5 million! anyway, i was just sent a notice from my sister that if you get a call like this, and the area code is 876, do not call it! (it's a foreign phone #, and you will be charged for the call!) shit, thi si s what i did, and now i am fucked! what am i going to do?!
