It happened again. Same gym new PT yesterday. The gym I go to is pushing the personal trainer thing because it is pure fuckin profit.
So I see this jackass of a trainer walking in with 2 starbucks coffee and his client who is about 60 years old.
They both start off this fine hour of workout with a starbucks toast and then onto the leg press machine. They stack on 2 plates a side and the old man starts lifting. Now his trainer has turned his back and is playing with the gym stereo. I see this old man litteraly pressing through the lockout position to where his knees start to buckle downwards and he does this for rep after rep. I am just staring in amazement at how this guy is going to fuckin kill his knees and never walk again, especially at 60. This lazy ass traniner doesn't even comment and then mopes around to the hammer bench. Again they put on 1 plate a side and the old man is litteraly pushing the weights with his whole body lifted off of the bench. It was a sad sight. I felt really bad for the guy. When I was done working out , I went to the manager of the gym and commented on this new personal training service and commented on how fuckin bad these guys are. He said he hired them based off of their credentials and shows me a list. The one yoga pant wearing starbucks sipping bitch had a Kinesiology degree, some sort of recovery degree and a bunch of training degrees, the other guy had a degree from a really great college and again had all of these degrees for training.
So my question is. What the f**k is the point of these degrees if the trainer is shit? Just because someone gets a drivers license mean they can drive well.
I hope the manager monitors these trainers before someone seriously hurts themselves and sues his ass.
ha ha
sometimes degrees enter through the window and common sense goes out the door.
i started lifting weights to get as strong as possible whilst remaining lean and functional for my sport, simple as that.
common sense tells me that i don't ask a guy with 12 inch arms and a 38 inch waist how to get this done.
sanity tells me that i don't also go ahead and pay the guy.
having said that (and this is where i do a reverse flip), not everyone is as motivated as your typical 'get big' poster. i didn't need motivation at all to train, it was something i had done since i was a kid. not everyone is the same, but everyone needs to exercise, so what are people like this meant to do? they obviously don't have the time/motivation/interest to learn this stuff so they pay. a bit like how we pay mechanics to fix our cars.
